Well I have a working prototype of my Live Journal Archiver working. If you want to try it out head on over to http://www.cbelloni.com/ljarchiver. Be forewarned that it is in the alpha stage and probably (definitely) has bugs. The worst that will happen however is that you will get some cryptic error messages. Nothing will happen to your Live Journal data. If things work as they are supposed to you should be able to enter your username and password and click “Get Archive”. This process can take a while depending on the number of entries you have. It has to make a connection to the live journal server for every day that you have a entry for, and this can take awhile, especially during peak times. My journal has approximately 40 entries and it took about 20 seconds to build the archive at around 4:45 PM today. I suppose your experience may vary. Anyhow if nothing goes wrong, you will be prompted to download a file once all of the entries have been retrieved. Click save and save this file where ever your heart desires. This file should contain all of your entries.
Give it a try and leave me some comments about features or bugs or anything else. The only things being retrieved right now are the date, subject, and entry body. Anything else is fair game if there is interest except the comments. There is no way for my program to access the comments left by other journal users. Let me know.
