I just tried to watch some streaming video on MSNBC.com and I kept getting messages that I needed to install Windows Media Player. Well I darn well know I already have it installed but I thought I would humor them. After clicking yes, it became apparent that they were trying to install Media Player 6.4, and since there was not a Windows 2000 version of 6.4 released (XP is built on the Windows 2000 core) I get an error that it cannot install. What the F is that. Well it turns out that if you go to the Windows Update site and install Windows Media Player 9.0, everything works fine. Why couldn’t MSNBC detect that I needed to install 9.0 and do it for me.
In another software quandary, I have Winamp 3.0 installed on my computer and it is slow as molasses. What’s that about. 2.0 was fine, but they go up a version and it’s now a resource hog. I’m thinking about reinstalling 2.0.
I hate software.
