Last Saturday was Carissa’s 7th birthday. She wanted to have a roller skating party, so we reserved Skateland down in New Phily. We only had the place for two hours, so it really wasn’t enough time to skate and do all the birthday mumbo jumbo. She had fun though. I even put skates on. I did better than I thought I would too.
Yesterday we went swimming up at Joyce’s. It was Carleigh’s first time swimming, since I don’t really count when she put her feet in the ocean at Hatteras. April bought her a little blowup car thingy that she floated around in for a while. She really wasn’t too sure about the whole swimming thing. I think she thought the water was too cold so she wasn’t all about getting cold. She did sit in her car for a bit and I got some pictures of her first swim. Towards dinner time, I took Carleigh out on the porch and fed and rocked her until she went to sleep for her nap. I laid her down in Joyce’s sun room so she could sleep. Generally she cries as soon as she wakes up anyplace strange so we weren’t too worried. Plus, she was laying right in the windows so we could keep an eye on her. At one point while we were eating, April looked in on her and she was fine. A minute later she looked in and she wasn’t there. She went inside and found Carleigh eating dog food. I guess she didn’t have enough of her bottle. Next time the pack n’ play is traveling with us so she doesn’t have a chance to escape.
We all got fried. My chest is bright red. Perhaps next time April asks if I want sun screen I will take her up on it. Carliegh was doing a great job of finding all of our sun burn spots today and scratching them.
