Description: A fun Instant Messenger story that was later translated into HTML. Gotta love good stories on IM 🙂 In this story, Mr. Elephant finds a new friend and goes through the everyday trials and tribulations of naming his new found friend.
So there’s this elephant…. And this elephant lives in a glass globe. So one day he goes home to his glass globe and finds a fish in it. He’s like “oooh… lookie a fish!”
See he’s always wanted a fish, but could never afford one so he decided to keep the fish. He gets all excited and calls all of his elephant pals and tells them about the fish. He’s like “ooh ooh, i’ve gota fishy!”
So the elephant goes to bed that night all happy and swell and what not because now he’s got a fish… but he can’t sleep! He wakes up in the middle of the night because he had a bad dream. Apparently in his dream his fishy threatens to leave if the elephant doesn’t say his name, and the elephant doesn’t know what to do because he doesn’t know his name. So when the elephant wakes up in a cold sweat in his elephant PJs. He decides he’d better name his fishy right then and there.
So he gets out some elephant paper and an elephant pen and starts writing out names. He’s got George, and Fred, and bOb, and Troy, and Sal, and Katie (he doesn’t know if it’s a boy or a girl), and Amanda, and Swimmy Swim Swim and Goldie and Fin, and Sharky, and Tail, and it goes on for a while.
Now the elephant is in an even bigger bind, he can’t pick from one of the names he has written down so the elephant calls up his mommy and asks her what to do, and she tells him that he should get back in his elephant bed and get some sleep and when he gets up go out side and the first name he hears, that is what he should name the fish.
So he goes to bed, and wakes up the next morning feeling refreshed. He goes downstairs of his glass globe and fixes himself some peanut butter toast and becomes very excited about finding a name for his new friend.
He puts on his nicest elephant jogging suit and heads outside to find the name for his fish. As he heads out the door he realizes he hasn’t fed his fish, so he tosses in some bits of his left over peanut butter toast. As the elephant begins his stroll down the street he is very disappointed because no one is talking… How can he hear a name if no one is talking?
So he continues on his walk and comes to the new parking garage on 3rd street.
He hears some kids playing in the garage (perhaps hockey) and stops and listens, knowing for sure one of them will yell out a name.
Without warning one of the kids yells out, “hey Huckelbee, give me the puck!”
The elephant gets the biggest elephant grin you’ve ever seen. Huckebee is what he will name his fish.
So the elephant goes home and makes his fishy a little sign to go above his new home that says Hucklebee, and the elephant and Hucklebee live happily ever after!
