Description: A story about how Googles saves the day. This one was written during work
So there’s this squirrel. His name is Googles. Googles lives in the park with all of his other squirrel friends. On warm spring days, such as today, Googles loved to take a squirrel walk to the fountain and watch all the other Park creatures romp and play in and around the fountain. Today however, Googles thought he might try something different for a change of pace. He decided that he would dress up in his knickers and rain gear and have a turn at romping through the fountain himself.
So Googles went to his squirrel bedroom and began to root through his squirrel closet to look for his wet weather clothing. At last he found what he was looking for. His bright orange raincoat, his bright orange hat, and his snappy orange boots. Googles jumped with joy as he laid out the outfit with care.
After a quick bite of lunch (he had left over Chinese from the night before), Googles ran back to his squirrel bedroom and struggled to get his rain clothing on. It was a lil tight from the last time he had worn it (Googles was beginning to let himself go), but he managed to get all of his outfit on. Googles threw open his front door and took off towards the fountain.
On the way to the fountain, Googles met up with his best pal who was known to the other park creatures as “the zebra”. Googles always called him by his real name though, Olestra. Googles could never figure out how Olestra got the nick name “the zebra”, because Olestra was a big ostrich. Olestra asked Googles what was with the rain get up, and Googles explained that he was on his way to romp in the fountain for the first time. He asked Olestra if he wanted to join him, but Olestra said he had to go and get these dumb stripes that were beginning to appear all over him looked at.
With that Googles continued on his way to the fountain. It wasn’t long before he reached his destination. All of the park creatures were there. Bill the snake, and Mouse the Alligator, and Betsy the fruit fly, and Jeno the Italian walking bird, and Pete the cow, and Sissy the Bull, and Kimberly the ancient two toed hunting cat, and LeRoy the hillbilly monkey, and LeRoy’s wife, AnnaBell the lizard, and their three children, Lil one, Number 2, and Jasper the hillbilly monkey lizards. Over on the other side of the fountain was Curious Troy the water buffalo, and Old Tipper the hairy pig, and Shorty the giraffe and Big Red the elephant and Killa the Octapus and Fishy Fish Fish the orange spotted drinking dog.
Googles was amazed at the number of park creatures who had turned out on this beautiful day. However, no one was romping in the fountain. Most of the park creatures were standing beside the fountain holding their towels and staring with disbelief at the center of the fountain. A few of the creatures were making a commotion in the center of the foutain, and Googles moved in for a closer look. Upon jumping atop the ledge of the fountain, Googles saw with his own two squirrel eyes what everyone was staring at. Apparently Skip the penguin had gone to romp in the fountain with the others, but had slipped on some of the millions of coins that had been thrown in the fountain and became wedged between the squirty part of the fountain and an old refrigerator. Some of the creatures, Libby the beetle, Alex the bear, & Walter the ox were trying to free Skip.
They weren’t having much luck however. Skip was wedged in there pretty good. Googles became worried. What if they weren’t able to free skip before the tide came in, he would be stuck there forever! What and awful thought, Googles cringed at it. Googles then went into thought mode and began to think what he could do to help. Suddenly it dawned on him what he could do. He jumped in the fountain, orange outfit and all and squirrel paddled towards skip. Upon reaching skip, he instructed Walter to lift him up out of the water so he could do his work. He reached into his squirrel hip pouch and pulled out two packs of butter like spread (although he’s letting him self go, he’s still cholesterol conscious). Googles splits them open and spreads the creamy non-dairy product all over Skip’s fin. Skip wiggles a bit and suddenly is free. Googles has saved the day. One of the creatures that from this point on, this day will be known as Googles and his Butter day. Googles is ousted on Walter’s shoulders and paraded around the park.
Just then Olestra walks up and says “Hey guys, what’s going on?”
