April and I were going to a Halloween party tonight and we were going to take this rum punch that April makes. We also needed a few more things for our costumes. So we ran to Wal-Mart quick to get everything. We were there like half an hour looking for what we needed and then we went up to check out. While we were waiting in line, April and I discussed who would be paying and we decided that we would see how much it was. If it was enough, April would pay with cash, otherwise I would put it on my debit-card. The ass-hole cashier man rang everything through and when he got to the rum, he asked April for her ID (She always gets ID’d even though she’s almost 28). I assume he asked her because she had the cash out. She realized she left it in the car, and told me to get my ID out. So I did and he said that wouldn’t work because she was paying. April handed me the cash so I could pay, and he said that wouldn’t work because it would be a “secondary sale”. I was slightly irritated, but whatever. I told him fine, I would just put it on my debit-card so I wasn’t using her money. He said we couldn’t do that either. I said, ok, well finish ringing this, and I’ll pay for the rum separately. He said he couldn’t do that either. So I was starting to get pissed off. I told him fine, leave it off, we’ll pay for this and I’ll go back and get another bottle and go through a line again. He had the nerve to tell me I couldn’t do that and he’d have to “report me” or some shit, I forget the exact words because I was pretty pissed by that time. So I told him to forget it, that we didn’t need any of the stuff and we walked out.
I understand why he couldn’t sell it to April cuz she didn’t have her ID. I semi-understand why I couldn’t use her cash to buy it, and to be generous I might understand why I couldn’t just use my debit-card during the same transaction. But to tell me that I couldn’t go back and get a different bottle and buy it myself and that he would “report me” is fucking rediculous. There would be absolutely nothing to report me for. April isn’t a minor… She’s older than me. I wasn’t buying it for her anyhow, it was for us. If she had her ID, it still would have been for us, but he would have sold it. Who’s to say I wasn’t underage and she wasn’t buying it for me, which the rediculous part is no one was underage. You can’t sit there and tell me that they fucking card every person who is in a group that is buying alchol. Basically that is what they would have to do, if you go by this guy’s logic. As we walked out the door he yelled “it’s not my law, it’s the state’s”. Whatever, I can pretty much guarantee that there is no law saying that because he wouldn’t sell it to me then, that I couldn’t go back in and buy it for myself.
The thing that really pisses me off about the whole thing is that they can treat customers like that every day and people don’t care, they practically expect it. Where do you find those customers tomorrow though, right back there at Wal-Mart. If we so much as look at a customer wrong, they stop coming in for a while, possibly for ever. Wal-Mart has ruined and will continue to ruin this country and no one really seems to care. They all hate the place, but where is everyone shopping on a Friday night… Yeah…
Well your right he did say he would just report you then….What an A$$ I should have kicked him in his shins…I should go there fill a cart with adult drinks of all kinds and let him ring them give him my ID then decide I don’t want any of it!!! Yeah then I would feel a little better!!!
