Today while I was having lunch after church, Dave called me and said the Credit/Debit/EFS transactions were not working. Apparently after they were being approved, the register would display an error message and then promptly crash. This was happening on all registers. I told him to reboot the server and see if that fixed anything. I hoped that fixed it because I didn’t hear anything more from him. Well as I lay on my bed taking a nap around 3:30, Dad calls and wants me to come over to the store because it is still a problem. Basically after taking any of those types of cards the register would crash and then need rebooted. Because of another bug in the system, the register must then be restarted a second time so that the keyboard will work. So basically after any of those transactions, the register must be restarted twice so that it can be used again. Poor Kelli had one heck of a time settling drawers tonight. They are supposed to call tomorrow and see what we can get worked out, but because it won’t be fixed by the time we open in the morning, all the fun will continue in the morning until (hopefully) it is fixed.

That sounds like a place where I worked during Undergrad. Cash register computer bugs must breed and reproduce in all fifty states. By the way, I stumbled across your blog while researching tornados. I am researching for a Masters Thesis (in Psychology) on delayed stress in people who have experiences severe weather. I have a short survey form and am doing electronic interviews with tornado survivors. As you seem to have suffered additional familial stress close to the tornadic event, I would like to include you in my study. Please consider doing an interview. Daisy
