Some might believe that people become parents the instant that a child is born. Those who believe that are sadly mistaken. It is well known in some circles that you aren’t really parents until you purchase a mini-van. Yes, that’s right, we’ve succumbed to temptation and are now proud mini-van owners. Fortunately for myself, there have been others that have gone before me in such an epic transition in life. I just want to take a minute to thank Brett, who’s extraordinary blog post has given me the strength to get through this time of wonder and realization.
April’s car needed quite a bit of work done just to make it drivable again, and we were slowly realizing that once you put a 4 month old, a 6 year old, a diaper bag, and a stroller in a Grand Am, there really isn’t much more room for anything else. So we traded in her car for a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette not too much unlike this one.
After learning that Brett’s van had a very cool color I was very excited to get home and get the paperwork out to determine the cool color name for our van. All of my hope and dreams were dashed when I finally found the color… Beige… Yes, that’s right, Beige. I almost wanted to take it back right then and there. But, it is nice to drive and should make loading and unloading the children much easier.
I think I found some new gray hairs this morning… Think it’s a coincidence? I think not!
Thanks for the link to my blog….that is a blast from the past. I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off at myself. Sorry your color is so normal, but we can’t all luck out with Magnesium Pearlcoat. It is true you don’t officially become a parent until the “mini” pulls into the driveway. There are support groups for young men like ourselves, somewhere. Katie said it herself, if you hang fuzzy dice from your mirror, we will also. Rock that Van!
You two,…man I am surprised Katie and I don’t have tons of gray hair just living with you two…..
OK, I lied, even if Chris does it we’re still NOT hanging fuzzy dice from the mirror.
