Wow, where do I start, there’s so much so cover since my last entry. First off I want to apologize to my fan base (Justin) for not making an entry in a while. My basic excuse is one that I’ve used before. As I previously mentioned I purchased a new computer and I put everything together over spring break. Well because of my laziness I have not yet installed a live journal client on my computer yet. I also hate to submit entries online so I just didn’t submit any. The sad thing is that I still don’t have a live journal client installed however I do have access to my old computer now so I am submitting my entry from my old computer.
Speaking of my new computer I absolutely love it. I will post an entry with detailed specs once I remember to borrow my dad’s digital camera and can take pics of it. If anyone wants the details before hand I would be happy to provide them via e-mail. The LCD screen I ordered is also working well and I will post pictures of it at the same time I post my computer pictures.
When I ordered the computer I also ordered a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) switch to allow me to control my two computers with one monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I eventually plan on putting linux on my old computer and I wanted to be able to switch between them without much effort. However once I got back to school after spring break I found that my mouse would not work with the switch. My mouse is a USB mouse and I was planning on using a USB/PS2 converter to hook it to the switch, but apparently the switch does not support it. So I started looking for a purely PS2 optical mouse, and it appears that there aren’t any on the market. I did however come across the Logitech Cordless Elite Duo which is a cordless keyboard/cordless mouse combo and happens to attach to your computer in a variety of ways including a PS2 mouse connection. Well I have been looking at cordless mouse/keyboards for a while so I decided to go for it. Especially since I found that Best Buy had a $30 rebate on the set. I got back to Columbus this afternoon (thank you hunny for bringing me back) and hooked the pair up to my switch. It worked flawlessly. I am quite pleased with it.
In other news classes started last week. I am taking 7 classes this quarter. For the most part they should all be fairly easy, but there will be a LOT of homework. My one class CIS 625 might end up being hard, it is about formal languages and “automata” whatever that is. I should be able to handle the work load however.
I went home this weekend and had a good weekend with my April. We had a lot of fun. I love spending time with her, especially when we get to go out and do stuff like we did this weekend.
Well as I’m sure everyone knows (unless you live on the moon, but then even then you would probably know) the war began while we were on spring break. I am still in full support of Bush’s decision. I have been trying to catch as much war coverage as I can, but it is getting harder and harder as school begins to get into swing.
Lastly a sad tidbit. I was blown away this afternoon when I learned that my favorite war correspondent, David Bloom, passed away while embedded with the 3rd Infantry Division. David’s coverage of the trek to Baghdad was revolutionary both in the information and pictures he allowed us to share with him and due to the fact that he helped to create some of the methods of transmitting his reports from the field back to New York. Apparently he died of natural causes. His death has really bothered me because I thought of him as one of the better journalists NBC had and I knew he would someday be among the ranks of Brian Williams, Lester Holt, Matt Lauer, and Tom Brokaw. David died at the age of 39 and this is another reason I think it bothers me like it does because he had at lot more of his life ahead of him and I would have enjoyed seeing more of David on future NBC broadcasts. My thoughts and prayers go out to David’s Family.
I too was surprised to hear of David Bloom’s death. I’ve seen a lot of him over the past couple of weeks, considering I watch CNBC and MSNBC all day. I send my deepest condolences to his wife and three daughters after he died of a blood clot. I can remember seeing him reporting during a sand storm shortly after the war started. He was a FAN-TASTIC reporter, and will be missed.
In other news:
I’m a little confused … In the first paragraph it refers to me as the entire fan base, but later it thanks “hunny” for the ride back. To clear things up: I’m not Cbell’s hunny.
I’m interested in the specs of the computer, but I can wait until it is posted in the journal, since posting it again would likely not net any new readers (possibly “suzzi boi” who I see listed on the user info page as a friend of).
I’ve personally enjoyed “my April” (so far) as well, but I think “my May” will be much more enjoyable. April has a lot of stuff I need to get done, while May is going to be much more enjoyable.
